The
Long Version
Indiana Point of Youth was founded
in 1998. Planning for this organization began long before that. The idea
came about after two successful Youth Summits, which were sponsored by
the Governor's Commission For A Drug-Free Indiana. It was decided that
the youth could and should take an active role in alcohol, tobacco, and
other drug prevention activities. That wasn't all youth were looking
at. They also took strides for public safety, by involving the Governor's
Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving. The is now under the direct
leadership of Pamela Earls, the Youth Program Director for the Governor's
Commission. She is leaping forward, with new ideas and new connections.
In 99-2000 we teamed up with the Indiana Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking,
and came even closer to them as they became active associates of the youth. |
